Greening the Laundry Room with Essential Oils!

A Green Home Includes the Laundry Room!

A green laundry area can be easier and more effective than you might think! What about the antibacterial, antifungal, anti-infectious, antimicrobial, antiparasitic, antiseptic, and anti-viral benefits that come from compounds in the Thieves Household cleaner? What a bonus!

Here are some of the ways I keep my laundry room green.

1. Prewash.
For stains, I spritz clothes with a spritzer filled with 1/5 Thieves Household Cleaner and 4/5 water. The spritzer can be purchased anywhere, but I like to get mine at Sally Beauty Supply because of their pretty color choices.

2. Wash.
My favorite laundry detergent is the Thieves Household Cleaner. I use 1-2 Tablespoons, because it is very concentrated. Before I had faith that this could do the job, I used equal parts of the Thieves Household Cleaner and the eCover laundry detergent.

3. Rinse.
I like to add a few drops of essential oil to vinegar for clothes to come out of the washer feeling soft and smelling wonderful. The vinegar also helps get out any remaining soap, whether your detergent is green or not.

Many people love lavender essential oil added to the vinegar, but this is your time to be creative! Which scents do YOU love? For example, I love the Citrus Fresh blend of orange, grapefruit, mandarin, tangerine, lemon, and spearmint.

4. Dry.
When I was growing up, we didn’t have the money for dryer sheets, so we took a fluffy old sock, cut it open, and poured fabric softener on it. Now, instead of using the fabric softener, I use several drops of my favorite essential oil on the sock. Clothes smell so nice when they come out of the dryer!

5. Cleaning your laundry room.
For the washer and dryer, I spritz a paper towel with the diluted Thieves Household Cleaner from my spritzer bottle. For floors, you can do the same, or can dilute the Thieves Household Cleaner in a bucket of water – depends on how many floors in the house need to be cleaned this way.
