Peppermint Oil Uses 2010

Peppermint oil uses can probably
cover more than 50% of the problems
that a family has when Dr. Mom reaches
inside the family medicine cabinet.
Lavender and peppermint are two of
the most versatile oils in the entire
essential oil kingdom. For this reason,
they are included in every

Why use peppermint?

How is peppermint oil used?
Three ways, basically – inhaling it, putting it on the skin, or getting it inside the body. I’ll give you some examples.

1. Inhaling
When I want to be alert or improve my memory, I inhale directly from the bottle. Students sometimes like to study with a drop of peppermint oil on a handkerchief, and then take out this handkerchief when they take their test.

When my head is stuffy because of a cold, I like to put a drop of two of peppermint oil in boiling water, make a tent for the steam and my head, and breathe in the clearing aroma and steam.

2. Putting it on the skin
For some people, putting peppermint oil on their temples is their favorite way to eliminate a headache. (Careful not to get it too close to the eyes.) For young and old, a drop of two of peppermint on the soles of the feet often helps bring down fevers.

When I travel by plane during warm months, I take an almost empty bottle of peppermint oil in my one-quart bag and take a spritzer top in my briefcase. In case my plane gets stranded on the tarmac, I can add water to the almost-empty peppermint bottle, replace the cap with the spritzer, and spray myself with this to help stay cool.

3. Getting it inside the body
One of the ways I enjoy peppermint oil is with a drop or two added to a glass glass (not plastic) of water. It helps me stay alert and helps me keep my weight under better control. When I want to lose a few pounds, this peppermint-and-water drink is my beverage with meals. A drop of peppermint with a drop of lemon in a glass of water is refreshing!

Some people like to put it in capsules and take with water.

Education, Intuition, and Common Sense
Essential oils, like most things, can be used safely and effectively if you educate yourself a bit first, and the best place to go regarding essential oil usage is the Essential Oils Desk Reference. I’m assuming that you are using only Young Living’s high quality therapeutic grade essential oils.
